Energy Savings Certificates

Your energy improvement can also pay you back

CAEs are an official mechanism of Spain’s National Energy Savings Certificate System. When an action reduces consumption, those savings are certified and can be sold.

We prepare the documentation and process it with a delegated party, so part of the investment comes back to your business.

How it works

01  You make an improvement (LED, HVAC, motors, solar…)

02  We calculate and justify the kWh saved

03  It is verified and the certificate is issued

04  The certificate is sold and you receive the money

What qualifies

Which improvements generate CAEs?

Any improvement that cuts energy use and can be measured. The most common ones:

LED lighting

Replacing fluorescent, halogen or discharge lamps with LEDs, with or without dimming.

HVAC

Heat pumps, chillers and high-efficiency units replacing older equipment.

Motors and drives

High-efficiency motors and variable frequency drives on pumps, compressors and fans.

Insulation

Improvements to roofs, façades, windows and cold rooms.

Industrial processes

Heat recovery, compressed air, furnaces and other production equipment.

And many more

The Spanish Ministry publishes a catalogue of approved measures. We tell you which one fits yours.

How we do it

How we process your CAEs

1

First

We study your improvement

We check whether it fits a catalogue measure and estimate the kWh and the amount.

2

Second

We prepare the paperwork

Technical report, invoices, photos and the other evidence the regulations require.

3

Third

Verification

An accredited verifier checks the declared savings.

4

Fourth

Certificates issued

The regional government issues the CAEs to the delegated party.

5

Fifth

You get paid

The delegated party sells the certificates and you receive the agreed amount.

FAQ

How much money can I get?

It depends on the kWh your improvement saves and on the CAE price at the time. Before we start we give you a written estimate for your case.

Who pays for CAEs?

Energy suppliers and other companies in the sector (the obligated parties) must meet yearly savings targets. They can meet them by buying CAEs, which is why your savings have a price.

Should I tell you before the works start?

That is best. Some of the paperwork is prepared from the start, so telling us before you begin makes it easier to claim all the savings.

Can I claim CAEs for works already finished?

It depends on when they were done and on the documents you kept. Tell us about your case and we will review it with no obligation.

Is this the same as the energy performance certificate (EPC)?

No. CAEs certify the savings from an improvement and are sold. The EPC is a property’s efficiency label, which you need to sell or rent it.
